On March 16, 2003, Rachel Corrie, a twenty-three year old American, was crushed to death by an Israeli Army bulldozer in Gaza as she was trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home. My Name is Rachel Corrie is a one-woman play composed from Rachel’s own journals, letters and emails – creating a portrait of a messy, articulate, Salvador Dali-loving chain-smoker (with a passion for the music of Pat Benatar), who left her home and school in Olympia, Washington, to work as an activist in the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the three sold-out London runs since its Royal Court premiere, the piece has been surrounded by both controversy and impassioned proponents, and has raised an unprecedented call to support political work and the difficult discourse it creates.

Set in James Joyce’s turn-of-the-twentieth-century Dublin, The Dead is a hauntingly tender and emotionally complex story of an annual Christmas gathering of old friends and family. On the 30th anniversary of their holiday festivities, two aging sisters – Aunt Kate and Aunt Julia – and their niece Mary Jane host an evening filled with food, stories, memories and music. Among the guests are their nephew Gabriel Conroy and his wife, Gretta. Gabriel doubles as the story’s narrator and shares a deeply personal epiphany at the story’s end, as he realizes what it means to accept the pain of being “alone” and yet together, with this wife, Gretta.

THE RAT PACK IS BACK! recreates one of the famous “Summit at the Sands” hotel shows, when the swinging ring-a-ding group known as the “Rat Pack” was creating hipster legend with a free-wheeling, no-holds-barred nightclub act of Las Vegas’ four favorite sons: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Joey Bishop. Geraldine Brooks is an author and journalist who grew up in the Western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. She worked as a reporter for The Sydney Morning Herald and as a feature writer focusing on environmental issues. In 1982 she won a scholarship to the journalism master’s program at Columbia University in New York City. She later worked for The Wall Street Journal covering the crisis in the Middle East., Africa, and the Balkans. Brooks won a Pulitzer Prize in fiction for her novel March in 2005. Her novel, Year of Wonders, was an international bestseller. Her most recent novel, People of the Book, was published in 2008. She has also written two non-fiction works.
