Black History: Lost, Stolen, or Strayed?

“Significant.” “Moving.” “Devastating.” These are words that were used to describe this news report on African-American history when it aired in July of 1968. In fact, this program was so highly acclaimed that CBS NEWS rebroadcast it, again in prime time, only three weeks later. Featured segments spotlight the changing image of black Americans through film and TV clips ranging from The Birth of a Nation, to Amos ’n’ Andy, to Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner; Freedom Day School in Philadelphia, where African-American children were taught about their heritage and racial identity; and some of America’s less familiar black heroes, including Daniel Hale Williams, the first doctor to perform open heart surgery in America. A young Bill Cosby hosts. Produced by CBS NEWS, 1968, 55 minutes.

Wednesdays with Wise Guys...WalkUp Radio followed by Trivia! It's live. It's interactive. It's a free night of entertainment! You hear him every week on 93Q's Ted & Amy in the morning. Now you can see him LIVE! Josh Grosvent (thisisjoshua.com) presents "Walk-Up Radio;" an completely live comedy radio show taped in front of a live studio audience! Broadcast through the web, this show is able to be heard all over the world. With a format much like The Howard Stern Show (minus the strippers and gross dares), WalkUp Radio is very interactive. The audience is invited to chime in at any time and be a part of the show. Josh and his co-hosts discuss local and national events, pop culture and personal stories. The problem is that they have very little control over what direction the show takes. If someone wants to discuss something else, they can grab the red microphone and chime in. If you've ever wanted to see a radio show happen right in front of your eyes, Walk-Up Radio is for you. And if you have ideas or opinions you are dying to get out, be sure to get to Wise Guys every Wednesday at 8pm for this FREE event! It's live. It's interactive. It's hilarious. www.walkupradio.com Following WalkUp Radio, Wise Guys brings you Trivia Night from 9-11pm, hosted by 95X's morning radio personality, Paulie! Come see how smart you really are! (For all of you students attending - a winning night of trivia will be proof to your parents that they have made a wise investment in your education.)
